BAISHE SRABON film

I saw the film when I visited Kolkata last week. Since I am researching about literary movements, I had some apprehensions about the treatment given by the Director of the film to the most famous literary movement in Bengali literature, i.e. Hungry Generation movement. Since general public never knew about the movement, the publicity that the movement got through BAISHE SRABON is undoubtedly immense. However, there are certain historical facts to which the Director Srijit Mukherji has not done justice. For example, Subimal Basak has been called Subimal Ghose. But the most glaring blunder is that Malay Roychoudhury was sentenced for one month's imprisonment ( though he won in High Court ) for writing poetry and not for setting fire to Kolkata Book Fair. Another mistake is that though the police witnesses against Mr. Roychoudhury has been named as participants, certain prominent members such as Debi Roy, Pradip Choudhuri, Falguni Ray etc have been left out.
Anyway, see the film for a new approach to story telling.
